PSHE and RSE Leader: Mrs Anderson

What do we want our children to achieve from our PSHE and RSE curriculum?

Personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE), combined with relationships and sex education (RSE) plays an increasinglt important role within the education of our young children. The imperative nature of getting this right cannot be understimated in the modern world. We are determined to equip our pupils with the skills and knowledge to be responsible citizens, both in their personal development, and their contribution to wider society. These subjects align closely with our school values and contribute towards the overall character education of our children. All pupils will develop the knowledge and skills to maximise their wellbeing; respectful attitudes towards people around them; the power and fearlessness to make informed choices in society and a personal identity that will prepare them for future challenges.
How do we ensure that this happens?

Our PSHE/RSE curriculum has been compiled using a combination of high-quality
resources. We do not follow one scheme of work exclusively, and this enables
us to teach the subject content in the most appropriate way for the children at
Broomhill. We have selected Pol-Ed resources for most of the curriculum
content, but we also embed the No Outsiders approach and Muse Wellbeing
resources for sex education lessons, in year 6.
Further information, including a whole school curriculum overview, can be located in the RSE policy below.
